Despite coronavirus attack, the design progresses. The aerodynamics of the 250kW turbine is ready and can be considered frozen. All the latest trends of microturbine have been incorporated including:
- supersonic guide vanes optimized for oblique shock control
- very high expansion ratio
- swept 3D airfoil profile
Volute has been designed not only to provide a proper swirl but also additionally strengthened to act as a containment shield in case of impeller burst.
Depending on subsequent heat transfer studies an additional thermal barrier ceramic coating may be introduced.
The isentropic T-S efficiency is 90%
